Silambarasan TR has often been vocal about social and political issues, but the actor has so far stayed away from making any direct announcement about entering politics. With discussions around several cinema stars stepping into public life, questions about Simbu’s political plans have also returned. In a recent interview, the actor spoke openly about his views on politics, his father T Rajendar’s journey, and whether he could follow a similar path in the future.
Silambarasan says he has no immediate plans to enter politics
Responding to a question about his political entry in a chat with Savukku Shankar, Silambarasan made it clear that politics is not his priority at present. “I don’t really take politics seriously. When my father started his party and entered politics, I saw all the problems and hurdles he faced with my own eyes. Because of that, I don’t have a great interest in politics,” he said. The actor also spoke highly of T Rajendar and his dedication to public life. “My father is a much more dedicated person than me. Whether it is cinema, politics or other public matters, he is much better and a better person than me,” Simbu added. His comments show that his decision is influenced by what he witnessed during his father’s political journey.
Silambarasan keeps the door open on future political entry
While Silambarasan has no plans to enter politics now, he stopped short of completely ruling out the possibility. When asked if he could make a political entry in the future, he said, “As of now, I have no idea of entering politics. But who knows what will happen in the future? At present, I don’t have any political plans.” The actor was also asked if he would launch his own party and contest the 2031 elections. Silambarasan responded that there was no such plan and joked that repeatedly asking him about politics might eventually force him to start a party.
Silambarasan reacts to Vijay ’s government
The conversation also turned towards actor-turned-politician Vijay and his performance after completing 100 days as Chief Minister. Silambarasan said it was too early to judge a government within such a short period. “I don’t know much about it. Judging someone’s government within 100 days would be a very rushed decision. It is too early to make an assessment,” he said. Simbu added, “He needs to be given some more time. I think for now he is doing well.” When asked whether he could support Vijay politically in the future, the actor kept his answer open-ended. “We don’t know what will happen next. Let’s see. We will face whatever comes next,” he said. For now, Simbu appears focused on his cinema career, while leaving his political future to time.
