Actor Shine Tom Chacko has been cleared in a drug case following a hotel incident. Forensic reports confirmed no drug use in his body, with hair and nail samples testing negative. This development is expected to lead to the dropping of the case registered by Ernakulam North Police, who had linked his escape to drug involvement.

Actor Shine Tom Chacko has received a big relief in the controversial drug case linked to a dramatic hotel incident.According to the reports, the forensic report has clearly stated that there is no evidence of drug use in his body. Samples of his hair and nails were tested and the results came back negative. With this report the case registered against him by the Ernakulam North Police is likely to be dropped.As reported by Manorama Online, police sources have confirmed that the forensic result does not support the claim of drug use.

What happened at the hotel

The incident happened in April when a DANSAF team reached a hotel in Kaloor. The team was following a person suspected of leading drug distribution in cities like Kochi. During the operation they found that Shine Tom Chacko and a friend were staying at the hotel. When the team reached the room Shine escaped by jumping through a rear window from the third floor. CCTV visuals later showed him leaving the hotel and checking into another one.

Police case and Shine’s stand

After the incident, the hotel room was searched, but no drugs were found. Still, the police claimed that Shine escaped to avoid questioning and said his behaviour was linked to drug use. A case was then registered against Shine and his friend Ahmed Murshad under Section 27 of the NDPS Act. Shine went into hiding and appeared before the police two days later for questioning. He stated that he did not know the people knocking on the door were police and ran away thinking they were goons. The forensic report has now rejected the police claim of drug use.

Past cases and final outcome

Earlier, Shine’s statement was taken in a case where a woman named Tasleema was arrested in Alappuzha with hybrid ganja but he was found to have no role in it. He was also arrested in a cocaine-related case registered in 2015 and was acquitted in 2025 after ten years. After that case, Shine’s father Chacko died in a road accident while travelling to Bengaluru as part of Shine’s treatment journey.
