Udit Narayan Jha said in a chat with Hindustan Times, the disaster has affected him on a personal level. His father was a Nepalese national. The singer also has roots in Mithila, a region near the Bihar-Nepal border. “It’s a very sad thing, but it’s God’s calling and we can do nothing in it,” Udit Narayan Jha said. The singer has relatives and friends in the region. While they are reportedly away from the areas most affected by the floods, he said there is still reason for concern because of the prevailing alerts.

Udit Narayan Jha said he has not received enough information about the condition of people close to him. He also pointed to the continuing flood situation and warnings issued in the region. “We have not got much information, but baadh udhar bhi hai and danger alert wahaan bhi ho rakha hai,” he shares. The singer said his connection with Nepal has made the tragedy particularly painful. He also wants to contribute to relief measures. However, he plans to identify a trustworthy channel before sending financial assistance.

Actor and humanitarian Sonu Sood has also expressed his support for Nepal. He shared a message of solidarity on X amid the worsening situation. “Nepal, you are not alone. We are coming with food, shelter and the strength to help you rebuild.” Sanjay Dutt and Arun Govil have also joined the voices expressing support for the flood victims.

Two arrested over alleged theft

Meanwhile, Nepal authorities have reported an unrelated but disturbing incident linked to the aftermath of the flooding. Two men have been arrested for allegedly stealing gold earrings from the body of a woman who died after being swept away by floodwaters. The incident reportedly took place near the Narayani River. A video of the alleged act was circulated widely on social media. Nepal police later reshared the 41-second footage. They confirmed that the two men had been taken into custody. According to NDTV, the suspects were accused of removing what were believed to be gold earrings from the deceased woman’s ears.
