Actress Upasana Singh has spoken about her experience with the Cine and Television Artistes’ Association (CINTAA). She alleged that she and other members faced insulting behaviour during meetings and discussions within the organisation. Upasana Singh said she was subjected to remarks about her professional standing and English-speaking abilities. She also recalled an incident involving actor Deepak Parashar, which she said left him deeply distressed. The actress had previously spoken about differences with Poonam Dhillon and Padmini Kolhapure over the functioning of CINTAA. Her latest remarks have once again brought those disagreements into focus.

Upasana Singh on her CINTAA involvement

Upasana Singh explained why she chose to become involved in the welfare activities of CINTAA. She said her association with the entertainment industry gave her an opportunity to build a career. As quoted by IANS, Upasana said, “I came here because I got a lot from the industry. I started from zero. I am a resident of Shyarpur, a small place. Today, if people know me all over the world, it is because of my career. And you know me because of the people in the industry. “So, when I made this decision, I thought I had to pay back. Now I have to work for my actors, and I have to work for all my technicians. Not just for actors, I want to work for everyone in my film industry, where I was given so much love.” The actress said her aim was to work for people across the film fraternity. She stressed that technicians should also benefit from such efforts.

Actress recalls alleged insults

While discussing her experience, Upasana Singh claimed that she was subjected to remarks intended to undermine her. She said her lack of English proficiency was also brought up during discussions. “So many insulting things happened with us. I was called Tom, Dick and Harry. I was told, ‘You are a character artist and I am a star.’ Such words were used for me. If you ever get time and the committee comes, then definitely see the minutes. They were told, ‘You don’t know English.’ Such words were used to demean.” According to the actress, these experiences contributed to tensions within the organisation. She suggested that the treatment of members became an important issue in the disagreements.

Upasana Singh names Poonam Dhillon and Padmini Kolhapure

Upasana Singh has previously discussed her differences with veteran actresses Poonam Dhillon and Padmini Kolhapure. The disagreements were reportedly connected to the functioning of CINTAA and the way members were treated. The actress has alleged that she felt disrespected during her interactions with the organisation. She also referred to comments about her being a character artist.

Actress recalls Deepak Parashar episode

Upasana Singh also described an incident involving Deepak Parashar. She alleged that an interaction between Deepak Parashar and CP Thakur became particularly difficult. “Deepak Parashar left crying. CP Thakur talked to him so rudely. After that, I had to take him to the hospital. He started having pain. You have heard very little. We have endured this for two and a half years. Maybe if someone else had been in our place, they wouldn’t have endured it. That’s why resignations were made.” Upasana Singh said the episode was among several incidents that she and others had experienced over a prolonged period. She claimed that they endured such situations for two and a half years.

Upasana Singh’s film career

Upasana Singh has worked extensively in Hindi films and television. Her career includes appearances across comedy, drama and television projects. Her latest released movie is the Hindi comedy-drama ‘Tomchi’. The movie was released in theatres on May 30, 2025.
