‘Jailer’ actor Vinayakan reveals why he divorced his wife: ‘We couldn’t live together, so we separated’

Actor Vinayakan has often kept his personal life away from the spotlight, choosing to let his work speak for itself rather than discuss private matters publicly. He spoke candidly about his relationship, his personality and the difficulties he faced while trying to balance his private identity with the image people have of him as an actor.

Vinayakan reveals why he and his wife decided to separate

Speaking about his divorce in an interview with Manorama News, Vinayakan said the decision was not the result of a major fight or bitter disagreement. He explained that both of them eventually realised that living separately would be better for them.“There was no fight between us. We couldn’t live together. So, we separated,” he said. The actor also revealed that they do not have children and said his former wife continues to look after some of his affairs even after their separation.Explaining the decision in greater detail, Vinayakan said, “When we understood each other well, we felt that separating was better. Otherwise, it would have become a big problem for her. I don’t give her peace. Let her live in her own way. That is better for both of us.”Taking responsibility for the situation, he added, “It was my problem, not hers.”

Vinayakan says his personality made the relationship difficult

Vinayakan also opened up about his personality and how it has affected his relationships. He said he finds it difficult to communicate openly and often chooses to stay away from people. The actor explained that his public image has made it difficult for him to live normally, even around people close to him.“Everyone sees me as an actor now. Even at home, they see me only as an actor. How can I live only as an actor? We should be able to show our own personality outside too. I can’t do that. That is painful,” he said.Vinayakan further revealed that his former wife was one of the few people with whom he could truly open up. He described losing that emotional connection as a deeply difficult phase in his life.
