NEW DELHI: Union minister JP Nadda on Tuesday said the Centre is fulfilling its assurance to withdraw cases registered against students who participated in the protests, while welcoming the decision to call off the protest scheduled for September 5.“Keeping the students’ future in mind, we assured on behalf of the Government of India that the cases registered against the protesting students would be withdrawn and that no harsh action would be taken against them in the future,” Nadda said.Nadda said the Centre had consulted governments in Bharatiya Janata Party-ruled states to implement the assurance given to the protesting students.“In line with this, we also consulted with the governments in states ruled by the Bharatiya Janata Party, and we are now fulfilling that assurance,” he said.Welcomes CJP’s decision to call off September 5 protestThe Union minister also welcomed the decision announced by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) spokesperson at a press conference to call off the protest planned for September 5.“We welcome the decision announced by the CJP spokesperson at a press conference to call off the protest scheduled for September 5,” Nadda said.
