Exclusive conversation with ‘The Traitors Season 2’ winner Krystal D’Souza

‘The Traitors Season 2’ winner Krystal D’Souza became a household name right after her debut television show ‘Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai.’ She did a few other TV shows following the success of her debut work, and then took a break before trying different formats like web series, reality shows, and movies. According to the actress, on the one hand, she feels blessed that great work has come her way, but on the other hand, she also confesses to being very selective with her projects. While talking to us, she confessed to making conscious decisions about work and not accepting every script offered to her. She said that the waiting period for an actor is a challenge in itself, but thanks to her television earnings, she was able to survive and had the luxury to be selective.

Krystal D’Souza credits her television work for providing her a strong bank balance

In an exclusive conversation with us, ‘Dhurandhar’ fame Krystal D’Souza said, “I have been extremely blessed with the kind of work that I have done. But yes, I am very choosy and very picky. Because you only see the work that I do. A lot of work happens that I refuse.”“Because I don’t think that for my career or for my self-growth, that work is useful. So, yes, I make very conscious choices. After television, taking that long break, then doing web shows, then doing films,” she added.“I feel like all this, you know, the waiting period is very difficult for an actor. When you have no work, you are just sitting at home overthinking that what should I have done? But I think I have made very conscious decisions. Thankfully, you know, television gave me so much backing monetarily that I didn’t feel that I needed to take up any work,” she confessed before adding, “I can choose the work that I take up because I know that I have made so much money from television that I will be able to survive. So, I owe a lot of my career and a lot of my decisions to TV for this only reason that I made my bank balance from there.”

Krystal D’Souza feels proud of her television background

There have been multiple instances when actors have shared how they were looked down on because they worked in the television industry. Similar incidents happened with Krystal as well, but she said, “When anyone says that you have done so many TV shows or whatever, they say it in a derogatory way or whatever, I never find it derogatory because I am what I am today because of where I came from, what that made me.”

Krystal D’Souza says she doesn’t regret passing any project

Further mentioning making conscious decisions in her career, she mentioned her debut film ‘Chehre,’ featuring Amitabh Bachchan in the lead. She said, “It’s a dream to work with him once and imagine making a debut with Amitabh Bachchan. I think I really waited for the right nail to hammer, and I have always done that.”Elaborating on being selective, she continued, ‘Reality shows have come a lot. I haven’t done even one. I waited for the right reality show, which I had manifested. When ‘The Traitors’ was not even in India, it was a global show. Since then, I have been thinking that if this show comes to India, then I want to do it. So, I want to do it. I just waited for the right opportunities. I think that is what I have done, and that is what I will keep doing. I will not take up anything and everything. I will only take up things that help me, that help my self-growth, and that’s the way I will go forward as well.”Explaining how she doesn’t regret any professional decision, Krystal added, “Look at where I am. What can I regret in life? I am doing good work, and whatever I am doing is turning out well. So, what can I regret? I would be very ungrateful if I said that I regret it. Yes, there are a few things that I might have made wrong decisions about. Maybe when I see the show later, or I see the film later, I think that I should have done it.“But I think whatever happens, happens for the best. If I had done that, then I might not have got anything else. So, you cannot live in that fear all your life. You have to just be happy with what you get, and I am that person. I am not somebody who is always looking for cons. In fact, I am just the opposite. I always look for pros in everything,” concluded the actress.
