NEW DELHI: Telangana Police on Tuesday registered an FIR against BRS leaders KT Rama Rao, T Harish Rao, Gangula Kamalakar and others for allegedly obstructing and assaulting police officials outside the Telangana assembly.According to the FIR, the leaders allegedly abused women constables, threatened staff and caught police officials by the collar. The FIR further said that the leaders tried to force entry despite security restrictions imposed on the Assembly Speaker’s orders.

The case is booked under Sections 121(1), 132, 74, 79, 351, 352, 353 r/w 3(5) of the BNS. Investigation is on.The FIR came after BRS legislators staged a protest against the Congress government, leading to a confrontation between opposition leaders and police personnel. Several BRS leaders, including KT Rama Rao and T Harish Rao, were detained.During the Assembly proceedings, Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar broke down while recounting the alleged remarks and the circumstances surrounding the incident. The episode drew strong reactions from ruling party members, who demanded action against BRS MLC Tata Madhu.Congress condemned the alleged remarks and demanded an apology from Tata Madhu, while BRS rejected the allegations.Tata Madhu denied insulting the Speaker, maintaining that his comments were directed at police personnel in the context of the confrontation during the protest.
