NEW DELHI: Demanding immediate safety audits of student accommodation and suspension of the MCD commissioner, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad has taken its protest over the Satya Niketan PG tragedy to Delhi University colleges, alleging administrative negligence and seeking accountability for unsafe buildings.Under the slogan “No More Satya Niketan”, the organisation held demonstrations at colleges including Hansraj, Hindu, Kirori Mal, Ramjas, Lakshmibai, Shyam Lal, Zakir Husain, Sri Aurobindo and Shaheed Bhagat Singh. The campus protests followed a demonstration outside the Municipal Corporation of Delhi headquarters the previous night, where ABVP demanded action within 24 hours.The organisation sought a high-level, impartial investigation into the incident and action against PG operators, building owners and officials found responsible. It also demanded immediate structural and safety audits of paying guest accommodation and rented buildings around DU and in other areas with large student populations.ABVP national general secretary Virendra Singh Solanki alleged that negligence by the MCD administration had contributed to the tragedy and said responsibility must be fixed.“Our resolve of ‘No More Satya Niketan’ is clear: no student in Delhi should ever be forced to risk their life by living in an unsafe building,” Solanki said.“We demand strict action against negligent officials, building owners and all those who have violated safety norms,” he added. Solanki said ABVP workers had been assisting affected students at the site while pressing authorities for action.

Delhi state secretary Sarthak Sharma urged the Delhi government to identify those responsible and introduce effective safety measures across student-dominated neighbourhoods.“Those responsible can no longer hide behind excuses,” Sharma said.ABVP said its agitation would continue until accountability was established and concrete safeguards were implemented to prevent similar incidents. Its demands extended beyond action in the Satya Niketan case to scrutiny of accommodation used by students across the capital.
