Prashanth Neel-presented ‘418’ gets ‘A’ certificate, serious horror thriller locks September 18 release

Prashanth Neel-presented Telugu horror thriller ‘418’ has completed its censorship formalities and secured an ‘A’ certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). Directed by Kirtan Nadagouda, the film is being positioned as a serious horror thriller that moves away from the comic elements often associated with the genre. The makers have also announced that ‘418’ will now release in theatres on September 18, 2026.

‘418’ receives ‘A’ certificate from CBFC

The makers announced the censorship clearance on social media, sharing a new poster along with details of the film’s certification. The poster features a lone figure sitting on the floor in a shadowy setting, with a hand reaching towards a blood-like mark, reinforcing the film’s dark and unsettling tone. Announcing the certification, the production house wrote on X, “#418TheFilm In theatres from September 18, 2026. CBFC certified the film with an A – We were absolutely right when we said, ‘Enough of laughing at horror movies. Now, it’s time to be scared.’”

‘418’ promises serious horror without comic elements

‘418’ is presented by filmmaker Prashanth Neel and directed by his former assistant Kirtan Nadagouda, who makes his directorial debut with the film. The makers have been emphasising that the film will take a more serious approach to horror, deliberately steering clear of the comic relief frequently used in horror films. The narrative is expected to focus on suspense, psychological fear and an unsettling atmosphere. The film’s promotional material has similarly highlighted its intention to scare audiences rather than use humour as a way of easing the tension.

‘418’ cast and crew

The film features Surya Raj, Charan Lakkaraju and Preethi Pagadala in important roles. Preethi, who gained recognition through ‘Patang’ and her social media presence, plays one of the principal characters. Dinesh Divakaran has handled the cinematography, while Venky GG has composed the music. ‘418’ is produced by Mythri Movie Makers, led by Naveen Yerneni and Yalamanchili Ravi Shankar. The project also marks the production house’s entry into the horror genre.

When and where to watch ‘418’

Following its CBFC clearance, ‘418’ is scheduled to arrive in theatres on September 18, 2026.
