NEW DELHI: Vehicle owners can now port their FASTags from one bank to another – much like the portability process for a mobile-phone number – with NHAI Friday rolling out the ‘One Tag’ framework. Nearly a dozen major banks, including SBI, ICICI and Airtel Payments Bank, have joined the tag’s portability system. The move will allow users dissatisfied with their current FASTag issuer to switch to another participating bank without buying a fresh tag or replacing the existing one.Govt is also set to roll out an annual local pass for residents living within a 20-km radius of a toll plaza at a discounted price of around Rs 1,500. Currently, local passes are issued on a monthly basis, while the FASTag annual pass is valid for travel across the NH network.Minister Nitin Gadkari said the FASTag portability can be done through Rajmarg Yatra app. More than 98% of toll collection on the NH network is now done through FASTag.
