Following the billion-dollar box office success of ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’, Tom Holland and director Destin Daniel Cretton are rumoured to be reuniting to take the superhero franchise forward.As the film continues to rake in the big bucks and break box office records, reports state that the ‘Spider-Man’ franchise could be heading towards a fifth standalone film, Deadline reports.

According to the report, Cretton is expected to return for the next Tom Holland-led Spider-Man film. However, the filmmaker’s return is not yet confirmed as he will soon be juggling an increasingly busy schedule shead. He has several projects in the pipeline, including the ‘Naruto’ live-action, Hawaii Five-O movie. He has also previously expressed interest in continuing his Marvel association with Shang-Chi 2, although that project remains without a confirmed release date.The possibility of Cretton returning is not entirely surprising. Producer Amy Pascal previously teased in a chat with Deadline last month. She said, “If we have our way, he certainly will be.”

Various reports indicate that Tom has signed a massive 10-movie deal that includes solo projects and other multi-starrers in the MCU.A post from the account WurldOnFilm on X claimed that Holland’s reported deal would cover four standalone Spider-Man films and six appearances in other MCU movies, potentially keeping him in the role until 2040. However, the claim was quickly disputed by scooper Daniel Richtman, who reposted the claim and wrote, “I didn’t say that.”In fact, recent reports indicated that Sony’s arrangements for Holland’s Spider-Man have been handled on a project-by-project basis. TheWrap previously reported that Holland’s original Spider-Man agreement was a six-picture deal covering three standalone films and several MCU appearances, but that was separate from any future commitments.
