As global leaders gather in New Delhi for the 18th BRICS Summit, India is in the spotlight as the host of the two-day event at Bharat Mandapam which began from September 12 to 13. With discussions ranging from geopolitics and economic cooperation to intra-BRICS trade, infrastructure and sustainable development, the summit has brought together representatives of some of the world’s major emerging economies.BRICS, which now comprises 11 major emerging and developing countries, began as a much smaller grouping. The term BRIC was coined by economist Jim O’Neill in 2001 to describe Brazil, Russia, India and China. The four countries began their informal dialogue in 2006, before Russia hosted the first BRIC summit in 2009. South Africa joined in 2010, followed by Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia and the UAE in 2024. Indonesia became a member in 2025, when partner countries were also brought into the framework.With the summit putting the spotlight on the BRICS nations, here’s a look at some Indian celebrities who have reportedly invested in properties in countries that are part of the grouping.

Shah Rukh Khan

Shah Rukh Khan has an impressive property portfolio in India, with his iconic Mumbai residence Mannat reportedly valued at around Rs 300 crore. The actor also owns an Alibaug farmhouse, an apartment in Bandra and a multi-storey home in Panchsheel Park, New Delhi.His overseas property portfolio includes a luxury villa in Dubai’s Palm Jumeirah in the UAE. The beachfront property, reportedly named Jannat, is said to be worth around Rs 100 crore.

Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan

Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan reside with Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan at Jalsa, the family’s 10,125 sq ft bungalow in Mumbai.The couple also owns a 5-BHK apartment in Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC), reportedly purchased for Rs 21 crore, along with a property on the 37th floor of Skylark Tower in Worli.Their international property portfolio includes a lavish mansion at Jumeirah Golf Estates in Dubai, which reportedly cost around Rs 16 crore.

R Madhavan

R Madhavan is also known to have invested in properties in different Indian cities. The actor reportedly owns a Rs 17.5 crore bungalow in Mumbai as well as a luxurious home in Chennai.Madhavan had also temporarily relocated to Dubai, where he owns a waterfront villa in the Marina area.

Salman Khan

Salman Khan’s Mumbai property portfolio includes his longtime residence at Galaxy Apartments, a farmhouse in Panvel, a 4-BHK property in Bandra, a property in Santacruz and a beach house in Gorai, reportedly worth more than Rs 100 crore.The actor also owns a luxury apartment in Dubai’s The Address Downtown, located close to the Burj Khalifa.

Other celebrities

Several other Bollywood stars have also invested in properties in India and Dubai. Sanjay Dutt, Anil Kapoor and Akshay Kumar are among the celebrities who reportedly own multiple properties across the two locations.Dubai has also emerged as a preferred destination beyond Bollywood. Tennis star Sania Mirza’s primary residence is in the UAE, where she owns a Greek-inspired villa in Dubai.
