NEW DELHI: BJP president Nitin Nabin Monday appealed to people to light a ‘diya’ at their homes on PM Modi’s birthday on Sept 17 for his long life, good health and continued success as part of his party’s “Aashirwad ka Diya” campaign.“Let us all light an Aashirwad ka Diya between 6 pm and 7 am Sept 17,” he said in a video message, adding India has seen transformative changes under him since 2014 and is moving ahead with the resolve of becoming a developed country by 2047.With the PM turning 76, BJP has announced a month-long “Seva Sankalp Abhiyan”, which will also mark the completion of his unbroken stint of 25 years as head of govt, including as Gujarat CM.

Programmes as part of the campaign will focus on public participation, expanding welfare cover and youth engagement.Nabin said the mantra of “serving the nation by serving people” has guided Modi’s public life and people’s lives have undergone a sea of change. Modi took over as the PM under challenging circumstances and brought new policies and programmes, Nabin said, heaping praises on his handling of the pandemic, Naxalism and terrorism, besides numerous schemes for the welfare of youth and women and other sections of society.
