NIA court on Wednesday sentenced all 10 convicts to death

NEW DELHI: More than 13 years after the 2013 Jhiram Valley Maoist attack in Chhattisgarh, an NIA court on Wednesday sentenced all 10 convicts to death in the case, in which 29 people were killed.Earlier this month, special NIA court judge Abhay Singh Rajput in Jagdalpur convicted all 10 accused, including two women, who were facing trial in the case, defence lawyer Arvind Choudhary said. The attack, one of the deadliest incidents of violence linked to Left Wing Extremism, took place on May 25, 2013, when Maoists ambushed the Congress’ ‘Parivartan Rally’ on a national highway in Jhiram Valley under Darbha police station limits in Bastar district.
