Veteran actor Mushtaq Khan, known for his memorable supporting and comic roles in films such as ‘Welcome’, ‘Hum Hain Rahi Pyaar Ke’ and ‘Gadar’, passed away in Mumbai on September 24 following a battle with cancer. His death has left the Hindi film industry mourning the loss of a familiar and much-loved screen presence.Among those paying tribute to the late actor is filmmaker Vishal Chaturvedi, director of ‘Hanuman Ansh’. Chaturvedi revealed that Mushtaq Khan was supposed to collaborate with him on his upcoming project.

Taking to X, Vishal Chaturvedi remembered the actor and revealed that they were set to work together. Sharing an emotional tribute, the filmmaker wrote, “We were supposed to work together Mushtaq ji, what an actor you were, what a legacy you left! Om Shanti.”

Mushtaq Khan’s death prompted condolences from several members of the film fraternity, including Sunny Deol, Anupam Kher, Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, Sanjay Mishra and Raza Murad.‘Welcome’ filmmaker Anees Bazmee also remembered the actor in an emotional Instagram post. Calling him “My Ballu”, Bazmee described Khan as a remarkable artist and a beautiful soul while praying for strength for his family and loved ones.
Mushtaq Khan once spoke about his remuneration on ‘Welcome’
In a previous podcast appearance, Mushtaq Khan had candidly recalled his experience of working on Welcome in Dubai and spoken about the disparity in remuneration.He revealed that he had stayed at the same hotel as Akshay Kumar’s staff during the shoot, but claimed that his own remuneration was even lower than that of the actor’s staff.“Akshay Kumar ke staff jis hotel mein the Dubai mein, waha pe main rehta tha during the shoot. Aur salary toh Akshay Kumar ke staff se bhi kam mila tha,” he had said.Mushtaq Khan’s funeral was held in Mumbai on September 25, with his family, friends and members of the film fraternity gathering to pay their final respects.
