Asian Games 2026 Day 8 Live Updates: Asian Games 2026 Day 8 is set to deliver another action-packed day for the Indian contingent, with athletes competing across a wide range of sports on Sunday, September 27. The schedule features medal events, gold-medal finals, quarterfinals, qualification rounds and important group-stage matches, keeping Indian athletes in contention throughout the day.

The day begins in the early hours with surfing, archery and athletics. Indian race walkers Manju Rani and Priyanka Goswami will compete in the women’s marathon race walk final at 4:00 AM. Archers from India will also begin their team events, while surfers including Sugar Shanti Banarse and Sivaraj Babu will compete in their respective shortboard heats.

Shooting will see several Indian athletes take the field. Manu Bhaker, Esha Singh and Rahi Sarnobat are scheduled to compete in the women’s 25m pistol precision qualification. India has two significant opportunities in squash. Abhay Singh will meet Malaysia’s Ng Eain Yow in the men’s singles gold-medal match at 12:30 PM. Anahat Singh will then face Malaysia’s Sivasangari Subramaniam in the women’s singles final at 1:30 PM.

Athletics will dominate the later sessions, with several medal events on the schedule. Shaili Singh and Ancy Sojan will compete in the women’s long jump final, while Harita Bhadra and Unnathi Bolland feature in the women’s 200m final. Animesh Kujur will contest the men’s 200m final, and Sarvesh Kushare and J Aadarsh Ram will compete in the men’s high jump final. Parul Chaudhary and Ankita are scheduled for the women’s 3000m steeplechase final.

Weightlifting also brings a medal event, with Harjinder Kaur competing in the women’s 69kg final Group A at 10:00 AM. Meanwhile, Indian boxers Ankush, Parveen, Sachin Siwach and Narender will compete in their respective quarterfinal bouts.

Team sports will add to the excitement, with India taking on Vietnam in men’s volleyball at 12:30 PM and Singapore in women’s hockey at 3:30 PM. Sailing, fencing, equestrian, sepaktakraw and kurash will complete a busy programme for India on Day 8.
