NEW DELHI: The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) plans to combat air pollution by deploying 70 new mechanized road-sweeping equipment around the city in the middle of November, according to released PTI report.There will be 15 CNG-powered vehicles and 55 electric vehicles in the fleet. On Thursday, MCD Commissioner Sanjeev Khirwar taken the field trials of the new machines that were brought to Delhi.It stated that the 70 self-propelled machines, which are being imported from Europe, have sweeping capacity of two and four cubic meters and are outfitted with a third front brush to enhance the removal of dust and road debris.

Delhi government’s department of environment is supporting the deployment with the funds, according to the civic body.“The machines are being tested in field conditions to assess their operational capabilities before deployment,” the statement stated.Increased usage of mechanized road sweeping is anticipated to help reduce dust pollution in the city and enhance road cleanliness, according to the MCD.
