Rashmika Mandanna and Vijay Deverakonda have opened up about their decision to keep their relationship away from the public eye for years, saying their romance was never about playing a “hide-and-seek” game with fans or the media. Vijay Deverakonda says there was never a ‘hide-and-seek’ game

Speaking on a promotional podcast with Shubhankar Mishra, Vijay explained why he never felt the need to publicly address his relationship with Rashmika.“8 saal se mujhe Rashmika ka parichay hai. Jo colleague thi, woh friend ban gayi, phir dheere-dheere relationship mein aa gaye aur phir meri patni ban gayi. But yeh koi chhupa-chhupi ka game nahi tha ki pakde gaye. Mujhe laga kuch bolne ki zarurat nahi hai. Mera life, mera life hai. Kyun kisi ko bataun? (I’ve known Rashmika for 8 years. A colleague became a friend, then we gradually got into a relationship, and then she became my wife. But this wasn’t some game of hide-and-seek where we got caught. I just felt there was no need to say anything. My life is my life. Why should I tell anyone?),” Vijay said. The actor added that he simply viewed his relationship as a personal matter and did not believe he owed anyone an explanation about it.

Rashmika Mandanna: ‘Our relationship is not for entertainment’

Rashmika also spoke about the couple’s decision to protect their personal life from constant public discussion.“Humara relationship entertainment ke liye nahi hai. Humara relationship humare liye hai. Jo cheezon ko humein protect karna chahiye, humein bahar nahi baat karna hai (Our relationship isn’t for entertainment. Our relationship is for us. The things we need to protect, we shouldn’t talk about outside), ” she said. The actress’ comments underline the couple’s approach towards their relationship, choosing to share what they wanted with the public while keeping the more personal aspects of their life private.

Vijay Deverakonda reveals what made him think of marriage

Vijay also opened up about when he realised that Rashmika had become an integral part of his everyday life. He recalled how their relationship gradually changed the way he experienced even ordinary moments.“Jab friendship se relationship par gaye, ek saal pehle approximately, mujhe ek dependency jaisa laga. Jab unke saath shoot karta hoon, zyada enjoy karta hoon, relaxed rehta hoon. Humara trainer ek hi hai. Jab saath workout karte hain, kasht nahi lagta (When we moved from friendship to a relationship, about a year ago, I felt a kind of dependency. When I shoot with her, I enjoy it more and feel more relaxed. We even share the same trainer when we work out together, it doesn’t feel like a struggle at all),” he said.Vijay Deverakonda added that he increasingly found himself wishing Rashmika was around to share everyday experiences with him.“Saath mein khana, alone jab main khata hoon toh lagta hai Rashmika hoti hai share karne ke liye toh accha lagta hai. (Eating together when I eat alone, I feel like if Rashmika were here to share it with me, it would be nice). Over the last one year, I realised I was missing her in bits of life and everything feels better when you have this special person with you. Everything feels nicer. Then I thought, shaadi kar lete hain,” he said.Rashmika and Vijay got married on February 26, 2026, in an intimate ceremony in Udaipur, Rajasthan, surrounded by close family and friends.
