Veteran actor Nana Patekar, known for his powerful performances in Hindi and Marathi cinema, passed away at his Goa residence in the early hours of Thursday morning. He was 75.Following the news of his demise, one of his most memorable performances from the 1994 film ‘Krantiveer’ resurfaced on social media, with fans taking to their handles to share his powerful monologue and saying that ‘It’s still relevant’. In the film, Patekar plays Pratap, a rebellious man who finds himself facing execution. In the film, he delivers a powerful monologue “Aa Gaye Meri Maut Ka Tamasha Dekhne?” which has now gone viral.In the now-viral scene, Pratap confronts the crowd gathered to witness his execution from the gallows, delivering a fiery speech questioning their silence and indifference towards the problems facing society. The scene in question sees Pratap condemn public apathy and cowardice while taking aim at political corruption, religious divisions and social decay. In his speech, he warns that continued silence and inaction will have consequences not only for the present generation but also for those who come after them.Patekar’s intense scene has now resurfaced online with fans saying, “His splendid contributions to Indian cinema will always be remembered.” Another added, “One of the most powerful scenes in television history.” While another said, “One of the most Powerful scenes in history ‘Still relevant’.”Nana Patekar went on to win the National Film Award for Best Actor for his performance in the 1994 Hindi film Krantiveer.News of Patekar’s death was shared on Thursday, Oct. 8. He was suspected to have suffered a heart attack. The actor was reportedly brought to a private hospital in Goa, after he was found unconscious at his apartment in Dona Paula. Dr Shekhar Salkar, a senior doctor at the medical facility said that despite being administered CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) for 45 minutes, the actor could not be revived and was declared dead at 5.10 am.A medico-legal case has been registered in this connection, and a postmortem would be conducted, he added.
