Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan turned 84 on October 11, and several celebrities from across the film industry wished him on his special day. Among them was Telugu star Prabhas, who shared a heartfelt birthday message for his ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ co-star.Taking to his Instagram Stories, Prabhas shared a picture of Amitabh Bachchan and wrote, “Wishing the legendary Amitabh sir a very Happy Birthday! Ever grateful for all the love u have shown..! Have a wonderful year…ahead sir.”The two actors worked together in director Nag Ashwin’s 2024 blockbuster ‘Kalki 2898 AD’, which brought them together in a futuristic world inspired by Indian mythology.

In ‘Kalki 2898 AD’, Amitabh Bachchan played Ashwatthama, the immortal warrior from the Mahabharata who is cursed to wander the Earth for thousands of years. His intense screen presence and action sequences received widespread appreciation.On the other hand, Prabhas played Bhairava, a witty and money-minded bounty hunter. As the story unfolded, his character was also connected to Karna, his mythological identity from the Mahabharata.The film also featured Deepika Padukone, Kamal Haasan, Disha Patani, Saswata Chatterjee and Shobhana in important roles.

Nag Ashwin talked about Prabhas and Amitabh Bachchan’s scenes

Earlier, during the film’s promotions director Nag Ashwin revealed that Prabhas was fully supportive of the story and never appeared insecure about not being at the centre of every major moment in ‘Kalki 2898 AD’.Speaking to Pinkvilla, the filmmaker said, “For a star of his stature, Prabhas has very little issues about things like this. He is fully for the story. Once he listened and okay-ed the story way back in the day, he has been fully onboard and very supportive.”Nag Ashwin also recalled how Prabhas reacted to a scene in which Amitabh Bachchan’s character physically overpowered him.“I think in retrospect, I feel that it was a big deal for a mainstream actor to get hit by another actor; Living in a world where all these heroes are untouchable. So it was a big deal but he was totally onboard. He wanted to get hit by Amitabh Bachchan. It was awesome. He was like, ‘Sir, hold me tighter’,” the director said.

The makers are working on ‘Kalki 2’, which will continue the epic story introduced in ‘Kalki 2898 AD’.
