Kim Kardashian and her former husband, Kanye West, expanded their property holdings in Hidden Hills, California, in 2019 by purchasing a 1.5-acre ranch for nearly $3 million. The property had a unique layout, with a single-storey house on one side of a road and a stable with horse facilities on the other. Although it was close to the couple’s main residence, the ranch had its own features, including a swimming pool, a hot tub and views of the surrounding landscape. Kardashian later put the property on the market in 2022 before selling it in 2023 for $3.5 million.

What made Kim Kardashian’s Hidden Hills ranch unique

The ranch stood out because its 1.5 acres were divided by a road, separating the main house from the equestrian facilities. Architectural Digest reported that Kardashian and West bought the property for $2.975 million in 2019. The arrangement meant that the residence and the horse facilities belonged to the same property despite sitting on opposite sides of the road. The single-storey ranch house, built in 1957, measured 3,874 square feet and had 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. Its relatively modest design differed from the couple’s much larger, carefully designed primary residence nearby.According to Mansion Global, the property also offered an open-plan layout, vaulted ceilings with exposed wooden beams, wood-burning fireplaces and an oversized main bedroom suite. Outside, the grounds included a swimming pool, a water feature, a patio and landscaped gardens. The division of the land was particularly notable for a property in an exclusive residential community known for its spacious homes and equestrian lifestyle. Rather than keeping the stable and paddock beside the house, the layout placed the facilities across the street.

The ranch’s equestrian facilities were a significant part of its appeal. Architectural Digest reported that the land opposite the house contained a barn, a fenced corral and storage areas for horse equipment. Mansion Global provided further details, noting that the barn had four stalls, alongside separate tack and feed rooms. These facilities gave the property a practical purpose beyond providing additional residential space. The barn could accommodate horses, while the tack and feed rooms provided dedicated areas for storing riding equipment and animal feed. The corral offered an enclosed space for the animals. The ranch also had views of the nearby Ahmanson Ranch state parkland, according to Realtor. Its combination of open land, horse facilities and a private residential setting reflected the type of property available in Hidden Hills.

How did the ranch fit into their growing compound

The purchase came during a period when Kardashian and West were expanding their Hidden Hills holdings. Mansion Global reported that the couple had already acquired neighbouring properties, including their main residence, which they bought in 2014 for $19.75 million, and another home purchased later that year for $2.9 million. In early 2019, they added another neighbouring property for $2.7 million. The ranch purchase later that year extended their collection to four neighbouring parcels, covering approximately 7.5 acres in total, according to Mansion Global. The couple had spent more than $28 million on their Hidden Hills properties by the time of the ranch purchase. The additional land gave them greater control over the area surrounding their main home, rather than requiring them to rely on a single residential plot.Their primary residence was also undergoing a significant design transformation. Architectural Digest reported that the couple had worked with Belgian designer Axel Vervoordt to create a minimalist home that Kardashian described as a minimal monastery. The ranch, by comparison, retained a more traditional appearance, with its single-storey construction and wood-beamed ceilings.

The property was eventually put up for sale

By September 2022, Kardashian was ready to sell the ranch. Architectural Digest reported that the property had been listed for $5.3 million, three years after she and West purchased it. The asking price reflected a substantial increase over the original purchase price, although the listing did not establish that the home had undergone major renovations during their ownership. The publication noted that Kardashian never appeared to have occupied the property. Her principal home remained the larger, architect-designed residence she had shared with West, making the ranch a separate holding rather than her main family home. The sale also came as Kardashian continued to manage a sizable property portfolio. In May 2022, Architectural Digest reported that she had bought another 4-bedroom house beside her main residence for $6.3 million. That purchase was separate from the ranch, which had its own land and horse facilities. The ranch was eventually sold in 2023, bringing its time in Kardashian’s property portfolio to an end.

The ranch sold for $3.5 million in 2023

Architectural Digest reported in July 2023 that Kardashian had sold the Hidden Hills property for $3.5 million. The final price was $1.5 million below its original asking price of $5.3 million, but it was still higher than the nearly $3 million Kardashian and West had paid in 2019. The sale marked a reduction in Kardashian’s property holdings in Hidden Hills, where she continued to own her principal residence and other properties.
