In Kerala’s Adoor, INC’s CV Santhakumar emerged as the winner, defeating CPI’s Priji Kannan by 10,332 votes. CV Santhakumar received 66153 votes, while Priji Kannan secured 55821 votes. The constituency is a Scheduled Caste (SC) reserved seat and includes Adoor Municipality along with rural panchayats such as Kodumon and Thuvayoor. The region has a mix of Scheduled Caste population along with Hindu-Christian communities, shaping its political dynamics.In the 2026 assembly elections, the UDF has fielded Satheesh Kochuparambil, while the LDF has nominated KU Jenish Kumar.In the 2021 assembly elections, CPI candidate Chittayam Gopakumar won the seat with 66,569 votes, accounting for 42.83 per cent of the vote share. He narrowly defeated Congress candidate MG Kannan, who secured 63,650 votes (40.96 per cent), with a margin of 2,919 votes. BJP candidate Pandalam Prathapan polled 23,980 votes, while the total number of valid votes stood at 154,817.Adoor has remained a closely watched constituency due to its competitive electoral history and shifting margins. The region continues to face key developmental challenges, including recurring flooding of the Achankovil River, which affects paddy fields and rubber plantations. Poor rural road connectivity, erratic water supply, and sanitation issues remain persistent concerns.Other issues include youth unemployment despite overseas remittances, overburdened primary health centres lacking specialised care, illegal quarrying affecting local water bodies, monsoon-related power outages, and rising land prices impacting small farmers. Traffic congestion near commercial hubs and limited public transport in semi-urban areas further add to local challenges.
