PMK’s Sivakumar C emerges victorious, securing 69727 votes, against TVK’s Vijai Vadivel A, by a margin of 910 votes.The Vikravandi constituency witnessed a high-intensity battle in the 2026 Assembly elections. The DMK re-nominated incumbent Anniyur Siva, who sought to solidify his massive by-election mandate from 2024. He was challenged by C Sivakumar of the PMK, representing the AIADMK-led alliance, while Vijay Vadivel of the TVK and Subha Chandrasekaran of the NTK introduced a vigorous youth-focused dynamic to the race. In the 2024 by-election, Anniyur Siva (DMK) secured a landslide victory with 124,053 votes, defeating C Anbumani (PMK) by a margin of 67,757 votes. This followed the 2021 election, where N Pugazhenthi (DMK) won with 93,730 votes (48.69% vote share), defeating R Muthamilselvan (AIADMK) by 9,573 votes. The voter turnout reached an impressive 90.51%, one of the highest in the district. This surge is largely attributed to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) drive, which cleansed the rolls. Vikravandi (Assembly constituency No. 75) is a vital general segment in Villupuram district. Its political landscape is a crucial barometer for agrarian sentiment and the influence of the Vanniyar community in northern Tamil Nadu. The 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections were held in a single phase on April 23, recording a high voter turnout of 85.15%, with results declared on May 4. The polls witnessed an intense three-way contest that challenged the state’s traditional bipolar political structure. The electoral battle was primarily between the DMK-led alliance, including the INC and other parties, headed by MK Stalin and the AIADMK-led alliance, headed by Edappadi K Palaniswami, along with the BJP and other parties. Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), marking actor Vijay’s political debut as a third force across all 234 constituencies.
