C. Joseph Vijay officially assumed office as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on Sunday (May 10). The swearing-in followed the May 4 election results, which saw Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam emerge as the single largest party in the state assembly. In his first speech after taking charge, Vijay announced a key welfare measure. He said domestic consumers would receive free electricity for up to 200 units.
