Rakul Preet Singh recently spoke about cheating and forgiveness in relationships. This comes after husband Jackky Bhagnani had jokingly called their marriage a “situationship,” following which Rakul made him hold his ears in a fun video clearing the air. Now, the actress has shared that while “one-time cheating” can sometimes be forgiven, she stressed that cheating is “definitely not okay.“
Rakul, Sara Ali Khan and Ayushmann Khurrana debate whether cheating can ever be justified
During promotions for ‘Pati Patni Aur Woh Do’, the cast sat down with Mashable India and tackled the age-old question of whether cheating can ever be justified in a relationship. Rakul didn’t mince her words, shooting back with a firm: “No!” Sara Ali Khan chimed in, adding: “I mean the least you can do is say sorry, but it is definitely not okay.” Rakul was quick to echo the sentiment, saying: “Yeah, don’t do!” However, Ayushmann Khurrana brought a more layered view to the table. “Marriage has its own rules. At the same time, if sorry has been said genuinely, then why not?” he said.Rakul looked shocked at Ayushmann’s response and asked: “Cheating kar ke?” Ayushmann defended himself, saying: “People make mistakes. It may be genuine.” Rakul then tried to explain her point: “It also depends on what is the extent… What is the extent? If cheating is a habit…” Sara cut her off and asked: “One-time cheating is okay?” Rakul quickly said: “I am not okay.” Both Rakul and Ayushmann then said together: “It is not okay! We are clarifying that.” Ayushmann added, “Primarily it is not okay.” Rakul then explained her view: “But if somebody can have a slip, life is too long to not forgive for one mistake.” She was quick to clarify that this had nothing to do with her own marriage, saying, “This doesn’t apply to my personal relationship. Please note.”
Sara might forgive but not forget the cheater in a relationship
Ayushmann sided with the idea of forgiveness, reasoning, “Humans make mistakes. But if they are genuinely apologetic about it, and if you feel for that person… life is too long.” Sara took a more guarded stance, admitting, “I might forgive but not forget.” Rakul pushed back on that, saying: “But I think if you forgive then you will have to forget,” leaving Sara to sum it all up with “That’s where it gets tricky.”
Jackky Bhagnani’s ‘situationship’ comment had earlier gone viral
This whole conversation comes after Rakul and Jackky had gone viral a while back. Jackky had triggered a wave of reactions online when he said during an interview with Zingabad: “Rakul and I are married, but we are like in a situationship, which is, of course, we are exclusive to each other because that’s why we are married. But the most important thing is that I can talk to her about anything.” Many people misunderstood the comment and it spread quickly on social media. Rakul then responded with a fun video where she made Jackky hold his ears and said: “Kitne baar bola hai isko, that we are millennials… Gen Z banne ki zarurat nahi hain! Bola tha na.”
