Tamil superstar Suriya and Trisha Krishnan starrer ‘Karuppu,’ directed by RJ Balaji, has been roaring at the box office since its theatrical release on May 15. The fantasy courtroom drama, after collecting good numbers, saw a decline in numbers as the film progressed to the second week.
‘Karrupu’ week-wise collections
As per trade analyst site Sacnilk, on day 19, the film added Rs 2.35 crore across 3,003 shows on Tuesday. This brings the Indian Gross collection to Rs 216.10 crore, and the worldwide collection comes to Rs 294.85 crore.During its first week of the film’s release it saw a huge fanfare and went on to collect Rs 113.85 crore. Later in the second week, the movie collected Rs 54.30 crore. Later, as the film progressed into the third week, the 3rd Friday grossed Rs 3.74 crore, on the 3rd Saturday it added Rs 5.92 crore, and on Sunday it took home Rs 6.79 crore. The next day, the film had made Rs 2.76 crore on Monday and added Rs 2.35 crore on Tuesday, registering its biggest fall.
About ‘Karuppu’
In the film, Suriya plays Karuppuswamy, while director RJ Balaji also appears as the antagonist Advocate Baby Kannan. The ending of ‘Karuppu’ hints that Karuppuswamy’s fight is not over yet. After dealing with problems in the judicial system, the story suggests that a new battle could take place in the political world. The film also teases a possible face-off called Karuppu vs Vellai, hinting at a sequel.
