Taylor Swift has officially released ‘I Knew It, I Knew You’, an original country single for the soundtrack of the highly anticipated animated film ‘Toy Story 5’.The emotional ballad is said to reflect the journey of Jessie, the beloved cowgirl character voiced by Joan Cusack. The song reportedly centres on themes of reunion, rediscovery and reconnecting with someone once thought was lost. While the song offers fans a glimpse into Jessie’s storyline, details of the character’s journey and role in the upcoming film remains under wraps. To announce the song’s release, Swift shared a home video on social media featuring herself dressed as a cowgirl, in footage from her childhood, with a snippet of the song playing in the background. Reflecting on the experience of writing the song, Swift wrote on Instagram, “Writing this song felt like a musical departure and coming home at the same time. Creating something for Jessie was a new challenge and also felt like second nature all at once. And being a @toystory kid from the age of 5 til now… is an adventure I plan to be on, to infinity and beyond.”The singer also expressed her gratitude to Toy Story 5 director Andrew Stanton for bringing her into the project. She said, “Thank you to the brilliant Andrew Stanton for imagining me for this, all those years ago when you wrote this newest film. Thank you to the incomparable @randynewmanofficial for the gorgeous sonic tapestry of songs and scores you’ve meticulously woven over the years. You created the Toy Story musical world, and we are lucky to get to live in it.“Swift created the song with longtime collaborator Jack Antonoff. The two reportedly sought inspiration from the film’s characters and stories they grew up with. “By we, I mean myself and my pal @jackantonoff. We wrote this with so much adoration for these characters that made us laugh and helped us learn lessons and think outside the backyard all throughout our childhoods. ‘I Knew It, I Knew You’ from Toy Story 5 is out everywhere now.“‘Toy Story 5’ is set to arrive in cinemas on June 19, bringing Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Jessie and the rest of the beloved toys back to the big screen as they take on their newest adversary- technology.
