Aaron Lazar, the ‘Company’ star, was diagnosed with slow-moving ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) in 2022. Sharing a heartbreaking update about his health on GoFundMe, his family wrote that the 50-year-old has lost the use of his legs, arms, and hands due to the incurable, progressive neurological disorder. The Broadway actor is now dependent on a BiPAP machine for breathing and a full-time caregiver for his day-to-day needs. Here’s a closer look at Aaron Lazar’s deteriorating health due to ALS.

Aaron Lazar requires USD 300,00 every year for treatment

In the newly launched GoFundMe campaign, the fundraiser requested USD 500,000 to pay for his 24/7 caregiving and treatment due to Aaron Lazar’s diagnosis. “With his increased needs, the cost of full-time caregiving, medical equipment, and specialized therapies has grown to more than $300,000 every year. Aaron’s ability to generate income for his family is severely limited,” the campaign reads, per The Independent, which added, “He needs help to stay in the fight.” The acquired money will be used to provide stability for his children, Julian, 16, and Adrian, 14, whom Lazar shares with his ex-wife, LeAnn.While many would be dejected and lose hope due to a critical diagnosis, Aaron continues to fight and have faith to get better. “Aaron has chosen a different path, dedicating himself to what he calls ‘The Impossible Dream,’ his commitment to living with hope, determination, faith, and love,” the description continued.

What is ALS?

According to the Mayo Clinic, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis is a nervous system disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. Also known as ALS, the disease leads to muscle weakness and other symptoms that worsen over time. It often starts in the hands, feet, arms, or legs, and then it spreads to other parts of the body.
