Rishab Shetty is celebrating his birthday today and his journey towards stardom was not an easy path.Today, he is one of the biggest names in Indian cinema. However, long before the success of the Kantara franchise, the actor-filmmaker experienced years of struggle while trying to establish himself in the industry.
Rishab Shetty once sold tea powder and water bottles
According to News18, Rishab once spoke about the many jobs he took up before finding success in films. To earn a living, he sold tea powder and water bottles. He also worked in the marketing of solar power products.During his early days in Mumbai, he worked as an office assistant at a production house. He later became a driver for a film producer in Andheri West.
‘Yakshagana ‘ shaped his creative vision
Rishab’s passion for filmmaking grew during his time at the Government Film and Television Institute (GFTI), Bengaluru. While studying cinema, he continued to stay closely connected to Yakshagana which is the traditional folk theatre of coastal Karnataka.Yakshagana eventually led him to the making of ‘Kantara’.
‘Kantara’ transformed his career
Years of perseverance eventually paid off with the release of ‘Kantara’. The film turned into a major commercial success and also received widespread critical acclaim.The success of the franchise has continued with ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’. According to Sacnilk, the film collected Rs 61.85 crore in India net collections on its opening day across 19,621 shows.The India gross collection stands at Rs 73.29 crore, while the overseas gross collection has reached Rs 13.50 crore. This has taken the film’s worldwide gross collection to Rs 86.79 crore after just one day.
A private family life
Rishab married Pragati (Pragathi) Shetty in 2017 in a traditional Bunt wedding ceremony. Besides supporting Rishab personally, Pragati has built a successful career as a fashion stylist, costume designer and entrepreneur. She has also contributed creatively to the Kantara franchise, including Kantara: Chapter 1.The couple are parents to two children, Ranvit and Radhya. Even after achieving nationwide fame, they have largely kept their personal lives away from public attention.
Birthday celebration with family wins hearts
Meanwhile, the actor celebrated his birthday in the company of his loved ones and members of the media. Videos shared on social media showed Rishab cutting a birthday cake before sharing it with his daughter Radhya and his wife Pragati (Pragathi) Shetty.
