Mollywood actor Vinayakan has landed in legal trouble after the Mavelikkara Police in Kerala’s Alappuzha district reportedly registered a case against him over allegations of insulting womanhood.As reported by Mathrubhumi, the case stems from the alleged sharing of a minor girl’s photograph on Facebook. Police action was initiated following directions from the Kerala State Commission for Protection of Child Rights.Reportedly, the alleged incident dates back to July last year. The commission reportedly instructed the police to register an FIR after reviewing the matter during one of its sittings held in Alappuzha.

Complaint alleges photo and phone number were shared online

Reports say that the complaint was filed by a Thazhakara native who is currently employed in Mumbai. According to the complaint, Vinayakan allegedly shared a photograph of the complainant’s minor daughter on Facebook without consent.The complainant claimed that he had earlier forwarded a Facebook post related to the actor through WhatsApp. He alleged that this upset Vinayakan. The actor then allegedly uploaded a screenshot featuring the complainant’s WhatsApp profile picture, which showed his eight-year-old daughter. The post also allegedly included the complainant’s phone number and obscene remarks.The complainant further stated that the Facebook post resulted in repeated phone calls from unknown people. He alleged that several callers abused him after obtaining his contact number through the post.

Police register case under multiple provisions

Following the alleged incident, the girl’s father approached the Kerala State Commission for Protection of Child Rights and sought legal intervention. After examining the complaint, the commission directed the Mavelikkara Police to initiate appropriate action.Based on the commission’s recommendation, the police registered a case against Vinayakan. Apart from allegations relating to insulting womanhood, authorities have also invoked provisions of the Information Technology (IT) Act in connection with the case.The investigation is expected to proceed in accordance with the applicable legal provisions. Police are yet to announce any further action in the matter.

‘Jailer 2’ actor has faced controversies in the past

This is not the first time Vinayakan has found himself at the centre of controversy. Over the years the actor has attracted attention for several incidents involving his public behaviour and social media activity.He has previously faced criticism over alleged abusive language and controversial online posts, even involving post against late Oommen Chandy (Former Kerala CM).

‘Jailer 2’ among Vinayakan’s upcoming projects

On the professional front, Vinayakan continues to remain busy with major film projects. The actor will next be seen in the much-awaited ‘Jailer 2’, starring Rajinikanth in the lead role. The sequel is being directed by Nelson Dilipkumar. Recently the makers shared the glimpse of the film which featured Vinayakan too.
