Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap has shared his appreciation for Prithviraj Sukumaran‘s latest Malayalam thriller ‘I, Nobody’.Soon after the film’s theatrical release, Anurag Kashyap posted his thoughts on a film discovery platform.
Filmmaker calls the thriller a gripping watch
Sharing his review on Letterboxd, Anurag Kashyap gave the film a positive rating and appreciated its mainstream appeal. He wrote, “Loved it. Keeps you hooked from beginning to end. It’s more mainstream and thrilling. Only thing that bothered me but I think the audience will enjoy is a common man fighting so many goons at the same time. Nevertheless a total ride around greed, public and media trial and policing and politics of it all.”
Prithviraj Sukumaran’s film records a steady Day 2 at the box office
‘I, Nobody’ continued its theatrical run with stable box office numbers. According to Sacnilk, the film collected an estimated Rs 2.22 crore net in India on its second day.The Day 2 collection represented a modest growth of around 0.9 per cent over the Rs 2.20 crore net collected on its opening day. The earnings came from 1,705 shows across the country. The film’s cumulative India net collection has reached Rs 4.42 crore. The India gross collection currently stands at Rs 5.13 crore.
Anurag Kashyap had earlier praised ‘Mollywood Times’
This is not the first Malayalam film to receive appreciation from Anurag Kashyap in recent weeks. The filmmaker had previously reviewed ‘Mollywood Times’, starring Naslen in the lead role, and praised director Abhinav Sunder Nayak‘s storytelling. He wrote on Letterboxd, “A post Internet/social media’s cinephile filmmaker’s wet dream is this film. A lot of truth and a lot of idealism. The articulation of it all from the filmmaker that Abhinav Sunder Nayak is only going to get sharper with time. This is how it all is but the wee bit of romanticism of it all is what we wish. Loved the film.”
