NEW DELHI: Congress leader Supriya Shrinate on Saturday launched a sharp attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, demanding that he apologise to the country instead of “forgiving” people, while accusing the Centre of using excessive force against students protesting over the alleged NEET-UG 2026 examination irregularities.In a post on X, Shrinate described the Prime Minister as a “drama king” and questioned his remarks, saying he should instead apologise to the country’s youth.“What a drama king Narendra Modi is. You should have been the one to apologize, Modi ji, and instead you’re forgiving the country!” she wrote.Shrinate accused the government of allowing brutality against student protesters and listed several allegations in her post.She demanded an apology for the alleged use of force against students, including pellet firing, lathi-charge, use of spiked batons, electrocuting protesters, injuries to a young girl, and the alleged mistreatment of women protesters.

The Congress leader also referred to the NEET paper leak controversy, remarks allegedly made against Gen Z, and what she described as “vulgar” statements from political platforms.
‘Come to Parliament, apologise’
Shrinate further accused the Prime Minister of avoiding accountability and challenged him to address Parliament.“Where are you hiding? Come to Parliament, apologize—to the country, to the country’s youth, to the country’s daughters,” she said.Her remarks came in response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent Instagram video, in which he said that punishing young people and forcing them to run from court to court would not improve the situation. The Prime Minister added that the youth had “lost their way” and should be guided rather than subjected to harassment.His comments came amid incidents of criminal cases being lodged against some young protesters for abusing him during the recent student protest. “Everybody saw what happened at Jantar Mantar,” the PM said.
