After a long wait, the makers of Yash’s upcoming film ‘Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-ups’ released the trailer. The film is directed by Geetu Mohandas and is one of the most awaited period action dramas. At the grand trailer launch event, the female director spoke about her experience working with the Kannada star, praising him as a “brilliant actor” and calling him “an emotion”.During the trailer launch event held on Saturday, Geetu Mohandas spoke about Yash and the support he gave her throughout the project. She said that Yash is much more than a star, actor, producer or co-writer for her.
Geetu Mohandas calls Yash an emotion
“You all have already seen what Yash is in the trailer. But for me, Yash is not just a star producer, a brilliant actor or a co-writer. Yash is an emotion.. a deep emotion! I don’t know what my career journey will be like after this film, but I will always carry a part of Yash with me. I will always be indebted to Yash for believing in me and giving me this challenging opportunity,” said an emotional Geetu.Apart from acting and producing the film, ‘Toxic’ is also co-written by Yash along with Geetu Mohandas.
The female director responds to criticism
Geetu also spoke about the criticism she faced when she took up ‘Toxic’. Some people questioned whether a female director could handle a big-budget, dark gangster action film.She said that people had initially told her the project was not meant for her. Geetu said that she used the film to show what she was capable of doing. “There were many people who said to me, ‘This is not because of you’ when this film started. But I proved to them what I am capable of and what I am capable of with this film,” the ‘Moothon’ director said.
Geetu Mohandas thanks her mother
During the speech, Geetu Mohandas first thanked her mother for supporting her during the long process of making ‘Toxic’. She said that her mother took care of her daughter while she was busy with the film. “I am lucky to work with such an amazing team,” she added.Talking about the film, ‘Toxic’ is a gangster action thriller set in the late 90s of Goa. The film features Yash in a dual role as a father and son. The film also stars Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Rukmini Vasanth, Tara Sutaria, and Huma Qureshi in key roles.The film has been shot in Kannada and English and will also be available in Malayalam, Telugu, Hindi, and Tamil.It is set to release on August 26, 2026.
