NEW DELHI: The Govt of NCT of Delhi has notified 20% horizontal reservation for ex-Agniveers in direct recruitment to the posts of warder and matron in the prison department.The 20% quota he has been provided by the Delhi Lieutenant Governor (LG) in exercise of powers conferred by the proviso to Article 309 of the Constitution of India, read with the relevant recruitment rules governing the posts of warder and matron in the Delhi prison department. It fits in with the policy of the govt of India for rehabilitation of ex-Agniveers, as communicated in a letter of the Union Home Secretary dated March 25, 2026.The home ministry has already reserved 50% of the posts at the constable (general duty) and rifleman level in all the Central armed police forces (CAPFs) and Assam Rifles, for ex-Agniveers.

Ex-Agniveers shall be granted a three-year age relaxation above the prescribed upper age limit in the relevant/applicable recruitment rules. For the first batch of ex-Agniveers, the age relaxation will be higher at five years beyond the prescribed upper age limit.A relaxation in physical efficiency test (PET) to ex-Agniveers shall be decided by the respective department.In case of non-availability of suitable ex-Agniveers, the applicable guidelines of govt of India on horizontal reservation will be followed.The 20% horizontal reservation will be available for all ex-Agniveers on lines of that for other horizontal reservation categories, as per the notification issued by the govt of NCT of Delhi on Wednesday.
