Australian mystery drama ‘High Country’ is set to return with a new season. The upcoming chapter is titled ‘High Country: What Lies Beneath’. It will bring Leah Purcell back as Detective Andrea “Andie” Whitford. The series will also introduce several new faces to its cast.
‘High Country: What Lies Beneath’ release date
The eight-episode Season 2 will premiere on BINGE on September 14. The streaming service has released a first-look trailer ahead of the launch. The footage offers an early glimpse at the case that will occupy Andie in the new season.The new story takes place after the events of the first season. Andie will once again investigate a mystery in Victoria’s High Country. However, the latest case will have much more personal stakes for the detective.
Leah Purcell returns as Andie Whitford
Leah Purcell will reprise her role as Detective Andrea “Andie” Whitford. The character was introduced in Season 1 after being transferred to the Victorian High Country. Her first major case involved five people who had disappeared without a trace. Season 2 will place Andie at the centre of another dangerous investigation.
Brendan Cowell joins the cast
Brendan Cowell is among the most prominent new additions to ‘High Country: What Lies Beneath’. The Australian actor, who has also appeared in ‘Avatar’, will play Detective Glenn Gilmour.The first-look trailer reveals the circumstances that bring Glenn into Andie’s investigation. His brother is found dead after his body is pulled from a lake.Andie must work with Glenn while trying to determine who was responsible.
