PM Modi to meet Russia's Putin on SCO meeting sidelines
PM Modi’s bilateral with Russia President Putin will follow EAM Jaishankar’s visit to Moscow this week

NEW DELHI: PM Narendra Modi will have a bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the margins of the upcoming SCO summit in Bishkek, said govt while announcing Modi’s two-nation central Asia tour to Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan that begins Saturday. The summit meeting of the Eurasian bloc will take place on Aug 31-Sept 1.In Bishkek, Modi will also come face to face with Chinese President Xi Jinping before he hosts him for the Brics summit here on Sept 12-13. Modi’s other bilateral engagements are still being finalised.Modi’s bilateral with Putin, the first since the Russian President visited India in Dec 2025 for the annual summit, will follow external affairs minister S Jaishankar’s visit to Moscow this week for a meeting of the 27th India-Russia Inter-Governmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technological and Cultural Cooperation during which he also called on Putin.While discussing trade and investment, energy and nuclear cooperation, Putin assured Jaishankar of continued supply of fertilisers, saying Russia is doing everything to help Indian farmers. Jaishankar told him Modi is looking forward to hosting him for the Brics summit in Sept.
