While Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, and Ajay Devgn have all tried their hand at hosting television shows, Saif Ali Khan has largely stayed away from the format. In a recent interview, the ‘Race’ actor revealed he isn’t opposed to the idea and is actively open to taking up a hosting gig if the right project comes along.

In an interview with Variety India, speaking on why he hasn’t hosted a show so far, Saif Ali Khan said, “I would love to host one. It is what we call a revenue stream. Of late, so many have opened up, and why not? I am not closed to the idea of anything. I would love to do a gig on TV.”He added that timing and interest have played a role in past decisions. “Somebody was talking to me about doing a show once or twice, but it did not work out. Perhaps I was not excited or interested enough in that particular offer at that given time. Now, I think it might be the right time.”

In the same conversation, Saif Ali Khan also pushed back against the idea that film stars view OTT content as lesser work. He said, “That’s a very age-old conversation that I am supposed to be a Friday mainstream theatrical actor. I never thought like that. I am sure some people feel that way, and maybe they are right to feel that way. I can only speak for myself.”Reflecting on his OTT experience, he praised his work on ‘Sacred Games’. He added, “Working on ‘Sacred Games’ was epic fun. You never felt that you were making lesser cinema. Also, we had Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane directing it. They are at the top of their game. It was a beautiful piece of film.”

On the work front, Saif Ali Khan will next star alongside Akshay Kumar in Priyadarshan’s ‘Haiwaan’, releasing in theatres on September 11.
