JAMMU: Border Security Force troops detained a Pakistani intruder along the international border in Jammu’s Kanachak sector on Thursday morning. Officials said the suspect was currently being questioned.Around 8am, personnel of BSF’s 44Bn spotted the suspect in a forward area near a border outpost and took him into custody. “The intruder was identified as Nazir Sadhir from Luni village in Pakistan’s Sialkot district. He is in his late thirties,” an official said.

Security agencies and BSF were trying to understand the purpose behind the suspect’s entry into Indian territory and other relevant details. Further investigation was underway, officials said.Earlier in June, alert Army troops deployed along the LoC foiled an infiltration bid and caught a 26-year-old man from PoK’s Bandi Abbaspur district trying to enter India through Gulpur sector in Poonch district. In March, forces detained a 70-year-old Pakistani national in Samba’s Ramgarh sector and repatriated him after it was established that the septuagenarian had inadvertently crossed over the border. On Jan 25, BSF personnel shot dead a 59-year-old man from Lahore after he allegedly ignored repeated warnings and entered Indian territory via Ramgarh sector.
