NEW DELHI: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav on Wednesday hit out at the Centre over the flood situation in Bihar, alleging that the government had no money for flood-affected people but was ready to spend on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday celebrations.“Govt has no money for the flood-affected people but they are ready to spend for PM’s birthday by lighting lamps,” Yadav said. His remarks came amid the ongoing flood situation in parts of Bihar affecting nearly 50 lakh people across 15 districts of the state. Bihar has recorded 112.7 mm of rainfall so far this month, about six per cent above normal, according to the local weather office.Earlier in the day, BJP appealed to people to light an ‘Aashirwad Ka Diya’ at their homes on September 17, marking Modi’s birthday. BJP president Nitin Nabin, Union minister Kiren Rijiju and other party leaders have made the appeal through social media. The lamp-lighting initiative is part of the BJP’s month-long ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’, which includes service activities, welfare outreach and public-participation programmes across the country.
