A total of 106 youths from Uttarakhand have secured jobs abroad under chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s Skill Upgradation and Global Employment Scheme, with most of them finding employment in Japan.Of the 106 youths, 75 are working in Japan, 30 in Saudi Arabia and one in Germany. They are employed in healthcare, hospitality and other sectors.The scheme, approved in May 2023 on the initiative of CM Dhami, aims to prepare young people for overseas employment by providing foreign language training and skills that meet international requirements.A Foreign Employment Cell has been established under the state’s Department of Skill Development and Employment to implement the scheme. Currently, 158 German and Japanese language training centres are operational across Uttarakhand. More centres are expected to open soon in Uttarkashi and Tehri districts.Dehradun has 75 German and 45 Japanese language training centres, while Almora has 22 centres offering German language training and Bageshwar has 16 providing Japanese language training. Training is underway in multiple batches across the three districts.

“The chief minister’s Skill Upgradation and Global Employment Scheme has delivered encouraging results. In view of its success, the number of foreign language training centres has been increased. Young people are being equipped with the skills and training required to meet global demand. Officials have been directed to prepare a comprehensive action plan in this regard,” Dhami said.
