Sunny Deol is truly making a strong comeback in Bollywood. After his big hit ‘Gadar 2’ in 2023, he has returned with another successful film, ‘Border 2’. Directed by Anurag Singh, the movie was released on January 23 and stars Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, Ahan Shetty, Sonam Bajwa, and Anya Singh. To celebrate the film’s success, the team of ‘Border 2’ held a media event in Mumbai on February 12. During the event, Sunny remembered his late father, the legendary actor Dharmendra, who passed away in November 2025.
Sunny Deol reacts to being called ‘Sunny 2.0’
At the media event, a reporter praised Sunny’s remarkable return to the spotlight, describing him as one of today’s most ‘bankable stars’ and even addressing him as Sunny Deol 2.0. Curious about his reaction to all the love coming his way, the reporter asked how he feels about the appreciation from fans. With his trademark humour, Sunny responded, “Itne saal pata nahi kahan chuppa hua tha (I don’t know where I was hiding all these years.) It’s really sweet. I just want to say this to everyone – work hard, love your profession, don’t get disheartened and time is something—you never know when it will come and when it will go but you should be ready for it.”
Sunny Deol credits Dharmendra’s blessings for his success
Further, he added, “That’s what it is. This is my father’s blessing, it is Waheguru ji’s grace upon me. The people loved me before as well, and they are loving me even today. Wherever I go, I receive so much love. Now I feel that even the industry has realised that people across the country want to see me, so I will definitely keep doing movies (laughs).”
Sunny Deol’s upcoming films
Meanwhile, on the work front, Sunny Deol will be seen alongside Aamir Khan and Preity Zinta in ‘Lahore 1947’, scheduled for a grand release on Independence Day 2026. At the recent event, Sunny also revealed that he is working on another film titled ‘Gabru’, which is expected to arrive in theatres later this year.
