Bhagam Bhag’s sequel might be coming sooner than fans think. Discussions about it started last year, and it was later confirmed that a sequel to the 2006 film is indeed being made, but with a cast change: Manoj Bajpayee takes over the role Govinda played. Now, new hints about it have shown up on social media.
Raaj Shaandilyaa ‘s cryptic post
Filmmaker Raaj Shaandilyaa, best known for helming ‘Dream Girl’ and its sequel, took to X on Tuesday to share a cryptic update: “Bas thoda aur intzaar…uske baad saare ‘SIGNAL’ khulne waale hain…” The reference is to Signal, a well-loved track from ‘Bhagam Bhaag’, composed by Pritam Chakraborty and performed by Remo Fernandes and Suzanne D’Mello.
Paresh Rawal reacts to Raaj Shaandilyaa’s cryptic post
Adding to fans’ excitement was actor Paresh Rawal’s response to the post. Set to reprise his role in ‘Bhagam Bhag 2’, he reposted it with a simple reply: “AMEN !” Further, Akshay Kumar is also confirmed to feature in the film.
The cult classic’s legacy
Over the years, ‘Bhagam Bhag’ has gone on to attain cult status. Directed by Priyadarshan, the film follows three men from a theatre group who travel to London to stage a play, only to find themselves caught up in a high-profile murder case instead.
A rocky road to production
Before it even entered production, ‘Bhagam Bhag 2’ ran into some trouble. Raaj was brought on as director in March this year, but things got complicated because of an existing three-film commitment he had with producer Ektaa Kapoor’s production house. Since he hadn’t obtained a No-Objection Certificate from her, a breach-of-contract dispute followed, with allegations that he’d signed on to an outside project without returning the advance he’d received to direct a third film for her. By May, though, the two had made peace, even posting pictures together on Instagram.
