‘Kannappa’ plot and ETimes review

Inspired by sacred lore, ‘Kannappa’ follows the journey of Thinnadu, portrayed by Vishnu Manchu. Preity Mukhundhan appears as Nemali in this devotional drama.Reviewing the film, ETimes wrote, “Kannappa scores high on visual and musical impact. Sheldon Chau’s cinematography captures the beauty of forested landscapes and celestial moments with finesse, giving the film a rich visual texture. Some of the VFX elements fall short of the film’s ambition, but the overall sincerity of the production shines through. Stephen Devassy’s background score is another strong point, heightening the emotional beats, especially during the intense and moving final act.Our review further said, “Watch it if you enjoy sacred stories with strong visual storytelling and emotional payoff. Kannappa ends on a powerful note that resonates with devotees and admirers of culturally rooted cinema.”Alongside Vishnu Manchu, the cast includes Prabhas, Mohanlal, Akshay Kumar, Mohan Babu, Sarath Kumar and Brahmanandam, among others.Despite the critic praise, the most awaited film didn’t perform well at the box office as the majority of audience reviews were mixed. According to Sacnilk website, ‘Kannappa’ earned only Rs 9 crores on the opening day net at the domestic box office. The total India gross for the epic film stood at Rs 10.77 crores on the opening day and collections later started dropping due to low occupancy levels.
