Years ago, Adam McKay and Will Ferrell were the most iconic comedic duo in the industry; however, after a fallout in 2019, the two of them never worked together again. However, years later, McKay is looking forward to reconciling with the actor all over again. Here’s what he had to share.
Adam McKay says he wishes to work with Will Ferrell again
While in conversation with Business Insider, Adam McKay admitted that he misses working with Ferrell. When asked about whether he wishes to work with him again, the filmmaker happily admitted that he has been open to the idea for quite some time now.“We always got along great, we were tremendous creative partners. The only thing that caused acrimony between us was when we decided to end our production company, Gary Sanchez. And I know it was reported one way or the other, but that was really it”, he admitted, also providing insight as to why they stopped working together in the first place.“It’s a shame because we had a great creative partnership. I think both of us underestimated the complications that go with not just having a company, but a very successful company,” he added, further sharing that the two of them worked on a lot of projects under their company banner, and that they had a flow going with one another.

McKay revealed that Ferrell was never someone who wished to completely produce content, and after a point, it became too much work. He added, “I was really the one who wanted to produce, but a movie star’s life is very different than a writer-director’s life. So we split up. But life goes on. We had a great run. I certainly have no hard feelings and, who knows, we’ll see what happens.” He also concluded by saying that the company was never something that Ferrell was passionate about.
