NEW DELHI: Bihar government on Tuesday transferred 17 IPS officers, including the superintendents of police in Bhojpur and Siwan, where police action during recent student protests had sparked controversy.The development comes as the state government told the Supreme Court that a constable fired four rounds from an AK-47 in the air after being surrounded by protesters in Siwan on July 25. The government said no protester was injured in the firing, though three others suffered minor firearm injuries during police action that day.The constable, Abhishek Kumar, has been suspended and faces departmental proceedings.
