It seems that after fighting around with swords for the ‘Game of Thrones’ series, actor Kit Harington is ready to take on a more magical role and fight with wands this time around. While Marvel actor Nicholas Hoult was initially cast as Gilderoy Lockhart, he had to drop out of the project due to scheduling conflicts. Now, it has been confirmed that the beloved actor from the ‘GoT’ series is taking on the role, especially after voicing Lockhart in another project! Reacting to the news, Harington could not contain his excitement.

While talking to Collider about the news, the actor shared that he has been a big fan of J.K. Rowling’s books ever since he was a child. Landing the role is a big deal for him, and the actor cannot wait to start working on the sets of the ‘Harry Potter’ series, season 2. He shared, “I’m thrilled. I’ve said a million times, for anyone who cares, that I’m a huge Potter fan. I’ve got to be honest, he’s one of my favourite characters. So, to be offered to play him is a real dream. I think he’s going to be so fun.”The second season of the series will be based on the second book, ‘Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets,’ where Potter will have another encounter with Voldemort and uncover some of the dark secrets of Hogwarts.Harington also opened up about how he previously played the same character in the ‘Harry Potter’ audiobooks. He commented, “You said I got to play him in the audiobooks. That’s not the exact way I’ll play him in the show because it’s an audiobook, but I’ve had a taste of him and felt my way around him. He’s just a wonderful creation.”
